Topic: New Mac USB driver 2.02 (was 1.99/2.0) and DIGICheck 0.684

Hello,

some may have wondered why the latest TotalMix FX 1.0 was available for Windows only. We were working on bigger changes specific to the Mac platform which required more testing and unique code. As these changes have been tested a lot by us, but might still show unexpected behavior, the new driver 2.01 is released in this forum as release candidate before its public release on the website. News:

- Optimized device communication. Reduces the TM FX CPU load with higher channel count interfaces. Also allows to display hardware level data with TotalMix FX and DIGICheck simultaneously (this caused wrongly displayed levels on both so far). The latter requires a new version of DIGICheck, using the same optimized device communication. Download see below.

- New option 'Isochronous Mode' in the Settings dialog (MADIface XT USB 3). This option is only there for special testing purposes and should not be activated.

TotalMix FX 1.02, with these changes compared to the former 0.999:

- Supports optimized device communication

- No longer triggers the use of the external GPU

- Global Trim Gains is now switched off with the Global Trim button only

- Bugfix: incorrect import of workspaces with different device configuration

- Changed Channel Layout: removed column 'active'. The list now only shows the channels that are currently present, depending on the actual sample rate. This also fixes wrong channel names when using the option 'Count MADI Channels per port' with MADI devices.

- MADIface XT: Main and Phones channel selection in CRM are expanded to MADI channel 64

Hello guys.....thank you for your hard work...you're the best....
I install this new driver and the first thing i found is that the TMFX meters are not working. I did a installation over the latest v1.95 driver. I tried a couple of times, I also trashed preferences but no luck.
My configuration: MacOSX 10.6.8(10K549), MacPro1.1, Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT, UCX (USB), Firmware v45.

10.6.8 might be the reason - we'll check. Do the hardware level meters in the new DIGICheck work?

Hi I just perform a quick test here with my laptop and simply use itunes as a media player (and loopback to simulate inputs).

I can confirm there is an issue with Mac OSX.6.x :

Totalmix FX : No connection with UFX (Fireface UFX always disconnected => no levels, no communication), while UFX appears in the device's list (see screenshot).
Note : I tried to reboot computer, reinstall drivers -> no change / Hot unplugging - replugging UFX USB Câble -> no change

DigiCheck : No level displayed with Hardware Input/Playback/Output selected as Input.
Core audio Input (loopback engaged) is working with all display view

FF USB Settings : Communication OK (ie : when changing Sample rate)

UFX Hardware (Audio + LCD) : audio playback and level meters are Ok

- Mac OSX 10.8.5 -

Totalmix FX : Fireface UFX correctly recognized and connected, no communication issue (for the moment)

DigiCheck : Level are correctly displayed either with Core audio (loopback engaged) or Hardware Input/Playback/Output.
But Hardware is only available in the 4 first level meter modes (2 meters, 4 meters, Multi, Global modes)

FF USB Settings & UFX : OK

And as few suggestions, it would be great to :
- mod : change font size of the function settings window (font is really too small)

- add : display (somewhere) which kind of signal is monitored in the Level Meter window (CoreAudio Input, HW Inputs, HW PB, HW Outputs)

- add : 1 (or 2) key command to quickly flip view mode (ex : up/down arrows) : CoreInput, HW Inputs, HW PB, HW Outputs

- add : some key commands to quickly shift channels bar view (2-Bars, 4-Bars and Multi views only) : a bit like bank/channel shift keys used with Control surfaces (MCU/HUI)
(ex :
Left/Right arrows -> shift pairs of channels by pairs of channels
shift + Left/Right arrows -> shift one channel by one channel
cmd + Left/Right arrows -> shift 8 channels by 8 channels)

Additionally : communication between UFX Firewire and Digicheck 0.683 + TotalmixFX v1.01 beta 1 with OSX.6.8 is Ok. Although there some graphical issues (I will post more informations about that after making more test with both OSX.6 and OSX.8, and even OSX.9, if I get the time to)...

Kernel Panic on a new MacPro 2013 (12core). I guess related to wake up from sleep (I was not there when it happened). Also not are if really the rme-driver was reason. just remembered that I installed v1.99.

Hello

Just to give some positive feedback as well: For me this version definitely solved a big issue. My DAW, Totalmix and the USB-Settings frequently (once or twice, sometimes three times at an 8-hour day, on some days not at all) crashed before. Most of the time it started with just shutting down any audio out- an input. Nothing was seen (Totalmix meters) and heard from one second to the next. Then, after some more seconds, all of the three Programs showed 'not responding' in the 'Force Quit' menu. I couldn't find out what triggered that behaviour, sometimes it was just while playing back a mix and doing nothing, sometimes i thought it might have to do with activating tracks, setting up out- or inputs or changing samplerate.

This was on my Mixing-Setup, fortunately i never had any problems with my recording computer (older intel Macbook Pro, Pro Tools 9, OS 10.6.8) using the same UFX with ADI QS, 96kHz most of the time.

Mixing Setup where this happened is:

USB-connected UFX (mostly up-to-date firmware), connected via Adat to (and clocked by) ADI-8 QS
Mac Mini, i7 2.3 GHz / 16 GB RAM / OS 10.8.5 / 1 internal Samsung SSD (system drive)
Pro Tools (native) 10.3 and 11.0.2
Euphonix MC Control (but it also happened when this wasn't on and the driver not running)

Most of the time using almost all in- and outputs of the UFX for analog inserts and all ADI outputs and two inputs for summing / return.

I'm running the new driver since about 5 days now and it didn't happen since. So i hope and think for me that's the needed update.

Any news on the latest firewire driver?
Will TotalMix 1.01 work with the current official firewire driver or are they not fully compatible?

New driver 2.01 available. Please try it. We did not see crashes under 10.10, but could improve the driver in several ways, so hopefully it will work now for you.

Hi, UFX performance via USB (sole connection to 1 port) on a mid-2014 MBP 2.8Ghz/16Gb/1TB has been flawless thus far since delivery a couple of weeks ago.

However, just installed the new 2.01 package & mute buttons are turning to white squares on collapsed channels when editing mute groups - OS 10.9.4 UFX Firmware 357.

It seems a problem with new driver on OS X 10.9.5 (MacBookPro11,3) sad

It's happening if not open TotalMix window within 5-15 minutes and can be solved after TotalMix resizing.
