Topic: fireface.exe UI messed up on Win7 x64

Hi,

I have a newly installed Lenovo W520 with Windows 7 x64 which I have connected a Fireface 400 to.

Somehow the UI in fireface.exe is totally messed up. I have attached an image. It's not possible to size or scroll the window at all.

I am using the latest driver win_fire_3062.zip and hardware revision 1.70.

Looks like a Windows font setting has been changed.

Hi Jeff,

I agree, it looks like it. But I always use 100% font size setting.

Just double checked, font size is set to "Smaller - 100%" in Display settings.

The text on the tabs and buttons look ok though.

Sincerely
Johan

Check individual font sizes in the display options...

Not easy to find in W7. Go to 'Window Color' or similar, there you will find 'Advanced Display Settings' or similar, then finally see the old-style dialog to configure all the fonts in detail.

I would be nice if the dialog could be resizable for when larger fonts are used. wink

Re: fireface.exe UI messed up on Win7 x64

Hi,

I fixed it.

My new Lenovo W520 laptop has a resolution of 1920x1080 on it's 15" display, so the issue was that Windows 7 by default had replaced the MS Sans Serif font with a 125% version, and wouldn't reset it when I switched to font size 100%:

Thanks to Matthias Carstens it was a simple fix to correct it:
http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7982

What I did was just to change the register key at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
Key: 'MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24'

I changed this value from 'SSERIFF.FON' to 'SSERIFE.FON'

Might be good to put this in a readme file, it's a very simple fix and seems to affects all current Windows 7 laptops with very high DPI.

Sincerely
Johan
