All our drivers and hardware can be used with Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit. PCI and PCIe runs straight away. FireWire needs a small tweak.
Windows 7 seems to include at least three different FireWire drivers. As reported in other forums to make the Fireface (and others) run under W7 you just have to change from the incompatible default driver to the compatible one.
- Go to Device Manager, FireWire Contoller.
- Choose Driver, Update Driver Software
- Choose "Browse my Computer for driver software"
- Choose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". A list pops up that shows three entries:
OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller
OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller (legacy)
OHCI-compliant Texas Instruments 1394-Host controller
- From these three select 'OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller (legacy)'
- Install the latest FF driver...
In Deutsch:
- Geräte-Manager, FireWire Controller
- Treiber, Treiber aktualisieren
- Auf dem Computer nach Treibersoftware suchen
- Aus einer Liste von Gerätetreibern auf dem Computer auswählen. Es erscheint:
OHCI-konformer 1394-Hostcontroller
OHCI-konformer 1394-Hostcontroller (alt)
OHCI-konformer Texas Instruments 1394-Hostcontroller

Meanwhile Windows 7 ships, as does a Windows 7 compatible Fireface driver (2.992 or up). But while it is now possible to install the Fireface with this driver directly under Win 7, the low latency performance and many other smaller issues give a really bad user experience, and have been proven to be a problem of the new FireWire driver from MS that is part of Windows 7. We have written confirmation that a fix will most probably not be available within the next 12 months.
Therefore we advise TO USE ONLY THE LEGACY DRIVER as described above.
Das muss man nicht übersetzen, oder?

We have now released driver 2.998 with firmwares 2.77 and 1.70. These should solve all compatibility problems with Windows 7, so the legacy trick described above should no longer be necessary.
