Yes, but why not use the same design for the two? And also make DC as an "add-on" for Totalmix, not a separate app?
Anyway, I really like the design of DC so this new skin is certainly nice.

Very good! Thanks for listening! I'm not sure how I would use this as it needs to be a different file type to place in the mixer contents. Maybe some guru here could convert it or something? I'm not sure how to do it, I'll look into it next week, but thanks for taking the time to work on it, especially as you are a PC user! Cheers for that.

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

Now this is not easy to write for me (being no native speaker). I really don't want to disappoint all the contributors that provided so fantastic skins in the past. Your work is outstanding and you made a lot of people happy by providing alternatives to the standard look of TotalMix, which - undoubtedly -  is both outdated and old-fashioned these days.

With the idea to provide a 'DIGICheck' style version and some clever details Terry just became the author of the new RME TotalMix default design. He will happily provide the download adress of this skin pack, so you can use it already before it becomes part of the driver package.

This does NOT mean that we think this is the most beautiful, useful, logical, stylish or whatever skin. It just means that this is a much better and very functional default skin presenting TM in some kind of RME design. Your personal taste might be different, and you are - as before - free to use whatever you want.

Thanks Terry for all the work!

This past year has been a great learning process of trial and error.
However, I can no longer afford to provide everything for free.
So, I've created a webpage asking a very small fee for obtaining my new designs.
Hopefully this will allow me to expand the roster of custom skins for all the DAWS that utilize RME hardware.
Then again, this new Default looks so good that I've probably destroyed the market! :-)

Please click on my signature link and take a look at my latest work.
Every design has subtle yet significant improvements over my previous free versions.

A very big THANKS to everyone for their support and inspiration.

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

Many thanks to Terry Gorle for the Logical mixer skin! It sits nicely with the Logic 8 interface on my mac. There seems to be a slight issue with the top row solo buttons for me though. I think whatever they are replaced with when you click on them is off centre or something, looks odd. I don't actually use them anyway as they don't seem to do anything for me, possibly because I'm missing the point somewhere, but they don't actually solo or mute anything!

Cheers!

I've just checked my PC version... all is working properly.

As a note, mute/solo have "armed" stages when the button is light grey ("OFF" is dark), and to be activated the MASTER buttons need to be engaged as well.  When activated (blue or yellow) the individual input/playback channel meters will still indicate if a signal is present, but you'll note that the muted/solo'd channel signal will be audibly and visually affected at your OUTPUT channels.

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

Hi Guys...   here are some blown up examples of the top of the iomixer and the solo.bmp file for Logic:

http://www.heirapparent.com/nu3/iomixer-copy.gif

http://www.heirapparent.com/nu3/solo-copy.gif

As you can see, the mute and solo button bitmaps need to be offset like this in order to align with the centered mute and solo button locations on the iomixer.  Either the location designation for the solo button is somehow corrupted in the OSX version, or someone thought the solo bitmap needed to be centered before making the OSX conversion (that in effect shifts them one pixel to the right when activated, but still doesn't explain everything going on).  In any case, you can now see the way the images must look in order to properly line up.

Many of the original totalmix default buttons were built to shift one pixel when activated (the Master mute/solo shifted one down as well as one to the right), so to simulate 3D depth of pushing a button.
My designs don't do that, and I have no idea why the solo button would be moving up and over by one pixel in OSX... very strange.

I have just updated my Custom Skins page to provide a download of Theme Park from my server for Mac OSX users to convert the bitmap files of my latest skin designs into .rsrc format.  I await news hoping that your conversions of the newer files don't suffer from the solo button issue being reported in the older free OSX Logic design.
I really can't make it much easier. :-)

Thanks,
Terry

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the explanation. You also answered my age old question of why the mute and solo buttons did not appear to work, because the master buttons were off! I never had a reason to use them as such until recently I plumbed a bunch of gear in and the outputs are quite noisy on some of them, so the mute function seemed perfect for this when not in use. It now works thanks to your explanation. As far as the solo button goes in the top row, it's definitely not right, something must have happened in the conversion. I can't complain really seen as you have kindly done this in your own good time. Hopefully RME can sort it.

Cheers,

Aj.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the info. I downloaded themepark, but it wasn't immediately obvious what I needed to do so I scrapped it, sorry! Need the time to make music! I also noticed when clicking save, hovering over the presets all display '2'. I like the look of the new skin you have made for the latest total mix release, but no new drivers are as of yet available for the FF series. I would be more than happy to pay a few $ for a Logic skin that works good.

Ya, the info on Theme Park isn't great from everyone I've heard from...  It would be great if the person who recommended it provided a step by step process for all the Mac users here.

Brian Daugherty has traded some work with me to convert every skin into to .rsrc this week, so hopefully there won't be any more issues.

By June 1, everything on my site should be available directly in both formats.  I'd like to thank everyone for their patience, and especially Brian for stepping up and taking on the task through trial and error.

Theme Park users must open the files in "Preview", then copy and paste from there.
If you import directly into ThemePark, the dpi and scaling will be corrupted.
The .rsrc must be named "HDSPe Mixer.rsrc" for HDSPe cards,

Here's is a preliminary screenshot on a theme I'm working on... It has been inspired from Garageband 09. I'm still ironing out a few inconsistencies...  What do u think?

By the way... is there a way to change font colors in Mac OSX for Total Mix (multiface)?  I only found a plist, which I can enter numerical values like -1, 0, 1 etc... which I don't get how color change based on that numbering... No option within totalmix exists for me...

Paps4.... that is really cool!

I've never seen Garageband.
Good job thinking outside the box with the adaptations, literally.

My only quibble would be the use of a speaker icon for Mute, and headphone for Solo.
It seems those icons would be more appropriately placed in the Monitor section.

Still, your concept is great.

For your Fireface, I believe there should be a folder named "bmp" inside the RME TotalMix folder ('bmp_hdsp" for my HDSP9652).
Put the bitmaps there.

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

Look under sysdisk:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\Application Data\RME TotalMix and you will need a folder named "bmp" if you have a FireFace series interface or "bmp_hdsp" for an HDSP/HDSPe interface.  Load the new BMPs in these respective folders.  Then you have to log off and log back on to see the differnence.

Re: Archive: The official New GUI for Total Mix thread (not TotalMix FX)

TotalMix uses its internal bitmaps until a folder bmp or bmp_hdsp is found in the same location where the presets are stored, and contains one or more correctly named bitmaps. Then the ones in the folder will be used. For Fireface the folder's name is bmp, for HDSP(e) series it must be bmp_hdsp.
