Van's drumming burst on the scene with the critically acclaimed "Southern Steel", which was Steve Morse's first release with his new trio featuring Van and Dave La Rue on bass back in 1990. It was procleimed "Guitar Album of the Year" in Guitar Player Magazine and would be the first of many recordings by the trio. In addition to Van's high visibility with the Steve Morse Band he's kept quite busy playing with a wide array of other artists: Blood, Sweat and Tears, Kansas, Bernie Worrell, Joan Osborne, Billy Joel, Nena, TM Stevens, Naughty By Nature, Enrique Iglesias, Corie Glover, The Dregs, Steve Morse, Jack McDuff and Gloriana.
When it comes to tour-drumming NYC drummer Van Romaine is someone whom "big artists" all over the world will seriously take into consideration for their band. In 2005 Van was the drummer for the NENA tour throughout Germany and Europe and also played in the last years with the Steve Morse Band all over the USA. Since 2007 he was also "in the groove" again for Enrique Iglesias´ world tour, which ended 2010 in Venezuela with two massive shows - his last official shows of the world tour that started in early '09.
For Enrique Iglesias van Romaine also did a load of tracking for the new Spanish/English CD 2010 - TV appearances and another world tour are in the works.
He also did some exciting work with Gloriana who won Breakthrough Artists at the 2009 American Music Awards including performances on Good Morning America.
While the the Steve Morse Band's CD "Out Standing in Their Field" is doing great another tour of the Southern U.S. is booked starting in Ft Lauderdale followed by additional dates in Europe.
Work on the new NENA album and the following live tour are on the schedule for 2010.
A short statement about his experience with his Multiface II:
"I'm a huge fan of the interface! Not one crack, glitch or problem during the entire tour. I had 2 G4's running in sync (one as a back up) with sometimes 10 stereo tracks of Ableton´s Live running. I even had a low buffer setting for triggering drum samples and still no problems. Drums and Perc magazine did a feature on me in Cologne where I got the chance to spread the word about the possibilities for drummers triggering digital audio of which I believe RME is an essential part of the picture. Back home in NYC now and headed to the Bahamas to play with Enrique Iglesias for New Year's."
